On Giving Tuesday, Community Offshore Wind Donates 500 Winter Coats to New Jersey Families
NEW JERSEY, December 3, 2024
On Giving Tuesday, an international day of generosity and giving, Community Offshore Wind donated 500 winter coats to families in need across New Jersey. The offshore wind developer partnered with Mid-Atlantic States Career and Education Center (MASCEC), Ironbound Community Corporation, Lunch Break, and Linden Public Schools to provide brand new coats to New Jerseyans in Newark, Linden, Red Bank, and Pennsville. Community Offshore Wind also donated 500 coats to organizations in New York.
Community Offshore Wind purchased all 1,000 coats for these donations from South Jersey Business Solutions, a woman-owned business based in Mullica Hill.
“At a time when many families are struggling to keep up with the cost of living, a new coat can be a major expense. Community Offshore Wind is proud to work with our partners in communities across the state to help families bridge the gap this winter season while supporting a local, woman-owned business,” said Doug Perkins, President & Project Director of Community Offshore Wind. “We see ourselves as a part of the communities we work in, and we are committed to helping meet the needs of our neighbors. We look forward to working with our partners in Trenton and communities around the state to deliver new benefits, including hundreds of good jobs, to the Garden State.”
“Hundreds of thousands of hardworking New Jerseyans struggle to make ends meet, and the winter months bring additional burdens, including the cost of warm clothes. Community Offshore Wind’s generous donation will provide critical relief to hundreds of families in need,” said Glen Donelson, President and CEO of Mid-Atlantic States Career and Education Center (MASCEC). “In addition to the immediate impact, this donation also shows that Community Offshore Wind understands the needs of local families and is truly committed to making a positive impact on New Jersey. Not only did they work with grassroots nonprofit organizations to understand the need and distribute these coats, they also sourced them from a local, woman-owned business. They’re a true partner to our communities, and the kind of business we need more of in New Jersey.” Since its launch in 2022, Community Offshore Wind has been an active and engaged neighbor to New Jersey communities. The project has donated thousands of pounds of locally-sourced seafood to hunger relief organizations, provided school supply kits for 400 New Jersey students, and offered interactive STEM-based summer field trips for more than 60 students.
